Here are just some of the reasons why Chiropractic care is so sought after around the world today:

– Chiropractic care helps align your spine and joints.

– Adjustments normalise joint motion and optimise other body functions and performance.

– Chiropractic helps improve coordination and balance within the body.

– Muscle tension, pressure on the body and everyday stress is relieved through adjustments.

– Regular chiropractic care helps to build flexibility and improve range of motion.

– Chiropractic care reduces pain and helps the body heal from minor sports injuries.

What is Chiropractic All About?

Adjusting the spine removes restrictions to the spine, reducing pain and discomfort and increasing mobility, letting the body’s functions return to normal. Chiropractors work with the bodies natural ability to heal itself by freeing the central nervous system. This is how Chiropractic works without the need for pills, drugs or surgery.

Your treatment plan will be tailored to you as an individual. As well as taking into account what your diagnosis is, we also have to consider other factors, like, age, how long you have had the problem, health and fitness levels, lifestyle factors and of course your goals from treatment.

Consultation Process

Step

1

The Initial Appointment

Your initial appointment will take about 45 minutes. At this appointment, your Chiropractor will take a full medical history, will ask you questions about your presenting conditions and will examine you thoroughly with orthopaedic and neurological tests in order to properly diagnose your condition as well as understand your general health and wellbeing. This may sometimes require you to change into a gown. If X-ray images are needed this is also generally done on the first visit. Your Chiropractor will then carefully review the findings.

Step

2

Results Meeting

At your second appointment, your Chiropractor will fully explain their findings to you, they will review your X-rays (if they were taken) and make their recommendations for treatment options. At this point, you will understand what the Chiropractor has found, how long they think the treatment will take, what your expectations for recovery should be, how many sessions you might need, what type of care, as well as how much the treatment will cost.

Step

3

Start your treatment

Your treatment plan will be tailored to you as an individual. As well as taking into account what your diagnosis is, we consider all factors like, age, how long you have had the problem, health and fitness levels, lifestyle factors and of course your goals from treatment.

Treatment can be started straight after the results meeting, time permitting or another time can be arranged. Treatments usually take around 10-15 minutes and patients do not usually need to get undressed.

All treatment plans are patient-centred, tailored to the individual and most patients report enjoying their treatment sessions.

Digital X-Rays

At ChiroCulture we have our very own instant capture digital X-ray machine onsite. This state-of-the-art digital X-ray technology gives the very best images, allowing for the most precise diagnosis and it all happens instantly. It’s the safest X-ray machine presently available.

Not all patients will require X-rays but when they do, we believe it is essential to get the best quality images possible in order to make the most accurate diagnosis. This gives Dr Ellie (Doctor of Chiropractic) and her qualified Chiropractic team an insight into a patient’s body without a hospital visit or surgery, allowing for more information to create a bespoke treatment plan.

X-rays are also useful to identify when a patient is suffering from conditions outside the scope of Chiropractic care and require a medical referral.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Chiropractic Care?
K
L

Chiropractic care is a healthcare discipline focused on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders, particularly those related to the spine. Practitioners, known as chiropractors, use hands-on manipulation and adjustments to align the spine and improve overall function. The primary goal is to relieve pain, enhance mobility, and promote the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Chiropractic care often emphasizes a holistic approach, considering lifestyle, nutrition, and other factors affecting health. It's commonly used for conditions such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, and joint issues.

What conditions can chiropractic treatment help with?
K
L

Chiropractic treatment can help with a variety of conditions, including:

  • Back Pain: Relief from acute and chronic pain in the lower, middle, and upper back.
  • Neck Pain: Alleviation of stiffness and discomfort in the neck area.
  • Headaches: Management of tension headaches and migraines through spinal adjustments.
  • Joint Issues: Support for pain and dysfunction in joints, including shoulders, hips, and knees.
  • Sciatica: Treatment for pain that radiates along the sciatic nerve, often due to herniated discs.
  • Sports Injuries: Rehabilitation and recovery support for common injuries in athletes.
  • Posture Problems: Improvement of posture-related issues and prevention of related pain.

How does chiropractic treatment work?
K
L

Chiropractic treatment works primarily through spinal manipulation and adjustments to improve alignment and function of the musculoskeletal system. Here’s how it typically works:

  • Assessment: Chiropractors begin with a thorough evaluation, including medical history and physical examinations, to identify areas of concern.
  • Spinal Adjustments: Using their hands or specialized tools, chiropractors perform precise adjustments to correct misalignments in the spine and joints, which can relieve pressure on nerves and improve mobility.
  • Pain Relief: Adjustments can reduce pain and inflammation, enhance blood flow, and promote the body’s natural healing processes.
  • Holistic Approach: Chiropractors may also provide recommendations on lifestyle changes, exercises, and nutrition to support overall health and prevent future issues.
  • Ongoing Care: Some patients may benefit from regular chiropractic visits to maintain spinal health and manage chronic conditions.

What can I expect during my first visit?
K
L

During your first visit to a chiropractor, you can expect the following:

  1. Consultation: You'll discuss your medical history, current symptoms, and any concerns you may have.
  2. Physical Examination: The chiropractor will perform a physical exam to assess your posture, range of motion, and any areas of pain or discomfort.
  3. Diagnosis: Based on the consultation and examination, the chiropractor may provide a preliminary diagnosis and explain how chiropractic care can help.
  4. Treatment Plan: If appropriate, you'll receive a customized treatment plan outlining the recommended adjustments and frequency of visits.
  5. Initial Adjustment (if applicable): In some cases, you may receive your first adjustment during this visit, but this depends on your specific situation.
  6. Questions: You'll have the opportunity to ask any questions about the treatment process, expected outcomes, and any concerns you may have.

This visit sets the foundation for your chiropractic care, helping the chiropractor tailor their approach to your needs

How many sessions will I need?
K
L

The number of chiropractic sessions you may need varies based on several factors, including:

  • Condition Severity: Acute issues may require fewer sessions, while chronic conditions might need ongoing care.
  • Treatment Goals: Your personal health goals and desired outcomes can influence the frequency and duration of visits.
  • Response to Treatment: Some patients respond quickly to adjustments, while others may take longer to see improvement.

Typically, chiropractors start with a series of visits (often 6-12) to assess progress, followed by a re-evaluation to determine if additional sessions are necessary. Ongoing maintenance care may be recommended to prevent future issues. For a more tailored estimate, it’s best to discuss your specific situation with your chiropractor during your initial visit

Will it hurt?
K
L

Chiropractic adjustments are generally not painful, and many patients report feeling immediate relief following treatment. However, some individuals might experience mild discomfort or soreness after an adjustment, similar to the feeling after a workout. This is usually temporary and subsides within a day or two.

Chiropractors are trained to adjust techniques based on each patient's comfort level, and they will communicate with you throughout the process to ensure you're at ease. If you have specific concerns about pain or discomfort, it's important to discuss them with your chiropractor before treatment.

How effective is chiropractic care?
K
L

Chiropractic care can be highly effective for various conditions, particularly musculoskeletal issues like:

  • Back Pain: Many studies show significant improvement in patients with acute and chronic back pain.
  • Neck Pain: Chiropractic adjustments can help alleviate neck pain and stiffness.
  • Headaches: Some patients experience reduced frequency and intensity of tension headaches and migraines.

Effectiveness can vary by individual and condition, with some people achieving rapid relief while others may require ongoing care. Research generally supports chiropractic treatment as a safe and effective option, especially when combined with other therapeutic approaches. For personalized results or specific conditions, it's best to consult with a chiropractor.

Are there any risks or side effects?
K
L

Chiropractic care is generally considered safe, but like any treatment, it carries some risks and potential side effects, including:

  • Mild Discomfort: Some patients may experience temporary soreness or stiffness after an adjustment.
  • Headaches: A few individuals report mild headaches following treatment.
  • Rare Complications: Although extremely rare, serious complications like herniated discs or stroke have been reported, usually associated with neck manipulation.

Chiropractors assess each patient’s health history and tailor treatments to minimize risks. It’s important to discuss any concerns with your chiropractor before starting treatment.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?
K
L

In most cases, you do not need a referral from a doctor to see a chiropractor. Many patients seek chiropractic care directly for musculoskeletal issues like back or neck pain. However, if you have a specific health condition or are covered by certain insurance plans, it may be beneficial to check if a referral is required.

Always feel free to consult your primary care physician if you have concerns or want to discuss incorporating chiropractic care into your treatment plan.

What can I do at home to support my treatment?
K
L

To support your chiropractic treatment at home, consider the following:

  1. Follow Recommendations: Adhere to any exercises or stretches provided by your chiropractor.
  2. Maintain Good Posture: Pay attention to your posture while sitting, standing, and sleeping to reduce strain on your spine.
  3. Stay Active: Engage in regular, low-impact exercises like walking or swimming to promote overall health and flexibility.
  4. Apply Ice or Heat: Use ice packs for inflammation or heat packs for muscle relaxation as advised by your chiropractor.
  5. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to help keep your muscles and joints hydrated.
  6. Follow a Healthy Diet: Eat a balanced diet rich in nutrients that support musculoskeletal health.

Incorporating these practices can enhance your treatment outcomes.
